William Splatt

William Francis Splatt (14 April 1811 – 17 October 1893) was a politician in colonial Victoria (Australia), a member of the Victorian Legislative Council.〔

Splatt arrived in the Port Phillip District in May 1841 with his brother Thomas. In April 1843 they were joined by two more brothers, Edmund Laskey and Frank. The Splatt brothers were merchants in Melbourne during the 1840s, William occupied several pastoral runs on the Glenelg, Loddon and Wimmera Rivers.〔
On 5 September 1851 William Splatt was elected member for Wimmera in the Victorian Legislative Council.〔

He was sworn-in November 1851 and held the seat until resigning in April 1854.〔
Splatt returned to England 1854 a wealthy man and bought an estate in Devonshire, later becoming the first mayor of Torquay.〔
